Homeopathy is a system of medicine that originated in the 18th century with a German physician named Samuel Hahnemann. It was inspired by the more ancient healing principle derived from the Law of Similars, or "like cures like", dating back to the time of Hippocrates, the Greek Father of Medicine. Through Hahnemann’s provings, he gave various substances found in nature to healthy volunteers and recorded the symptoms they developed, which then became the signature of that particular remedy. Hahnemann discovered that by matching a sick patient's symptoms with a remedy signature, the simillimum could stimulate healing within the sick ("like cures like").

In his efforts to reduce side effects, Hahnemann also noted that the more dilute the original substance, the more potent it seemed to be, thus defining homeopathy as an energetic form of healing. A true minimum dose with potent effects is thus able to be achieved with the least risk of side effects. It is safe for all, including animals, babies, the elderly, and within pregnancy.

Homeopathy is officially recognized under the "1938 Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the 1965 Medicare Act, and the 1987 FDA Compliance Policy Guidelines as safe, gentle but deep-acting medicines".

I practice classical homeopathy, using single remedies at a time, seeking to identify one's constitutional remedy that is thoughtfully and methodically matched to an individual's innate way of being through examination of one's responses to stress and innate particularities. It is based on the the belief that dysfunction arises from a disruption in the vital force within us that maintains balance, or homeostasis, through a trigger or stressor. When the correct remedy is given, the vital force is re-stimulated and healing occurs.
